Carters Flooring Limited are a family-owned business that has been operating successfully in contract flooring for over 30 years. Due to continuous growth, we are currently looking to expand our team by recruiting an experienced Contracts Manager.
The successful applicant will need to be an experienced Contract or Project Manager, ideally from within Commercial or Contract Flooring. Consideration will be given to PM’s and CM’s from the wider Construction sector with a great eye for detail, with relevant experience.
Our Head Office is based in Ilkeston, however given the nature of the role we are prepared to be flexible with the location, so long as the candidate is willing to frequently travel.
Responsibilities
- Attend to all new and prospective projects and identify any potential problems/risks, including the need for any sub floor works.
- Carry out site surveys at the costing stage and liaise with the estimating department to facilitate accurate quotations in a timely manner.
- Plan and manage ongoing projects both on and off site, ensuring they are programmed accurately for the site manager/operatives to deliver the scheme without delays
- Manage site team compliance including health and safety in line with company policies and procedures.
- Assisting with the estimation of upcoming projects
- Carry out weekly reviews of progress and attend site for regular meetings to check the quality of work and pro-actively manage the programme to avoid delays.
- Be the main point of contact for management on site and sub-contractor labour, encouraging maximum productivity.
- Oversee the management/procurement of tools and equipment.
The above list is by no means exhaustive but gives a good overview into this varied and interesting role. Bottom line, you will be a confident Project or Contract Manager with a great track record of delivering large scale projects on time and to budget.
Experience and Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the correct method of installing products such as safety flooring, vinyl, broadloom carpets, carpet tiles, sheet vinyl, nosing’s.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all levels of sub-floor preparation including the appropriate use of products such as DPM and latex.
- Candidates who are experienced fitters who are looking for a move into a management position will also be considered.
- Commercially savvy with an ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
- Excellent people management, communication, and organisation skills is essential.
- A full and current UK driving licence
- An up-to-date CSCS card or be willing to achieve this. SSSTS preferred.
